In
2001, my actor friend Jack Plotnick (Gods and Monsters,
Action) and I made a 13-minute film called Evie
Harris: Shining Star.
To date, the comedy has screened at gay film festivals in
Los Angeles, Miami, Dallas and Philadelphia, and in 2002, was
one of the finalists in the Planet Out Short Film competition.
We lost to a lesbian sex comedy but what are you going to
do?
Down
but never out show biz legend Evie Harris is a character Jack's
been doing for years at various parties of mine and other events
like the drag pageant Quest for the Crown and Match
Game Live.
In Evie Harris: Shining Star, Evie takes her
biggest fan (played by yours truly) to Hollywood Boulevard to
clean her star on the Walk of Fame.
Much hijinks ensue.
In
2003, Evie will make her big screen debut in the feature Girls
Will Be Girls co-starring Coco Peru and Varla Jean Merman.
I make a cameo in the film as a beleaguered TV director
saddled with the job of shooting Evie's comeback special.
God help me.
Also
available for your viewing pleasure is an Evie gallery, chock
full of shots of our beloved Hollywood battleaxe at various
industry functions in various states of consciousness.
Enjoy.
